John is Canada's authority on B2B barter/contra.
John's goal is to build BarterPay into an international company which helps businesses become more profitable by leveraging their downtime & idle inventory, (underperforming assets) into other products and services that they require. John graduated high school in June of 1995. He was accepted to Queen's, McMaster and Waterloo for Civil Engineering, he chose Waterloo because he also had the opportunity to play varsity basketball for the Warriors. During the summer, he was working to save money for school and stumbled across the barter system. It was then and there that he realized his ability to sell! John put school on hold and began selling for a barter company in the Niagara Region.
He quickly grew the client base up to 500 members and became the most prominent region in the barter system. In March, 2001 John bought the barter exchange and has been building the business ever since. In 2014, BarterPay developed its own proprietary software and began to develop systems for Canadian and international expansion.
Today, BarterPay has more than 4000 clients in 5 provinces and growing strong. We employ almost 20 full time staff at our Corporate Head Office in Stoney Creek, Ontario and have another 25 people involved at the franchise level. We will have 35 offices and 20,000 clients across Canada in the next 5 years and become Canada's only national barter company.
John has always a spirit of giving to those less fortunate and was considering starting a charity with his wife to help inner city youth. Then in 2011, he came to the realization that the way to maximize his impact on the community was to focus on what he does best - barter. That year the BarterPay It Forward Foundation was born and since then has raised and distributed almost T$2,000,000 to charities across Canada.
John resides in Vineland, Ontario, has been married 20 years to his beautiful wife Debbi and they are very busy parents raising their four sons!
He is also still very active athletically playing hockey, cheering on all his sons in their sports and running.
