I was only involved with BarterPay as a client for about 2 months when I started talking with Dan Benesh (BarterPay Regina) about the possibility of pursuing the Moose Jaw area, as it wasn’t being serviced full time by BarterPay. As a business owner I loved the idea right away! Being able to obtain new business and then spending those dollars earned without having to cut a cheque was very intriguing. In small business ‘cash is king’ and the ability to conserve cash while increasing business is a win-win scenario. Moose Jaw is a smaller centre but there is a lot of small business here and a lot of opportunity for businesses to help each other while adding more sales and saving cash. It also allows for the opportunity to market their business and opens up opportunities from other cities.
I grew up in Moose Jaw and attended school here. From there, I attended the University of Saskatchewan and obtained a Bachelor of Commerce. I then moved back to Moose Jaw and pursued my CMA, CPA designation. I have been the Controller at Global Ag Risk Solutions for the past 18 months and also own Moose Jaw Hydroseeding here in Moose Jaw. In 2015, Moose Jaw Hydroseeding won the Moose Jaw Business Excellence award for Best New Business Venture.
I am a huge sports nut. I play hockey, baseball and football when I'm not chasing around my two children (ages 2 & 4). I am president of the Moose Jaw No Hit Hockey League, and have coached minor sports in the past. I will probably do that again as my children start to play sports.
